Desperate times, Desperate measures

I need help! My dear sweet wonderful boys have a major problem with night time potty habits. I know that it isn't totally unheard of but it is stressing me out. I am so tired of buying pull-ups for bedtime. They are so expensive! Plus I am sick of dealing with them and finding them in the hamper after who knows how long they have been in there. So Gross! So I have decided to take some drastic measures to try and deal with this problem. I have tried in the past with no success. So this has been their sleeping situation for the past few months,

Yes that is the bathroom floor. I know that it seems a little harsh but I was not going to have them peeing in their beds for who knows how many nights on end. Gross! I have to say that we have made some progress but it has not been easy or fun. Kasey and I have been taking turns getting up and taking them potty throughout the night. Considering that Hunter had Never gone a night without peeing the bed (always wearing pull-ups of course), we have made steps in the right direction but I am getting tired of this. We are up to like 50% of the time waking up dry now. Stockton is actually doing better than Hunter.
Has anyone had experience with this or any advice? I am about ready to give up all together.

Oh, Audrey, my heart is going out to you. No wonder you're not a morning person. Impossible to function having nights like that. Sorry!

My Brother had the same problem with one of his daughters and they found something that would wake her up when she needed to go, I will find out what it was that they used.

Hey Aud! Sounds like you are having a tough time. We had a lecture on this in school and there are bed wetting alarms that are available (Nytone adn Wet-Stop) - I don't know how effective they are. But they wake the kid up when they start to wet and the idea is to help them to realize they need to get up. There are also several medications available (desmopressin and imipramine) that can help kids make it through the night. Desmopressin decreases urine production and increases the ability to hold it. Imipraimine increases the bladders ability to hold urine and makes the kid sleep lighter so that they wake up easier. I have no idea if taking medications are worth it....but I thought I would throw it out there...since I learned about it. Good luck!! -There is also plastic sheets...but I'm sure you've tried that

Oh Audrey, I'm so sorry. I wish I had some advice but I'm not to that stage yet. But if I ever get there, I'm hoping by then you'll have the answers for me. Have to talked to a doctor? I did have one friend who's little boy had a wetting the bed problem and then after several years they discovered he actually had a urinary problem that was causing him to wet the bed. I can't remember what it was, but as soon as they started him on medication he stopped wetting the bed. If I were still in touch with her I'd call and get more info for you. But unfortunately they moved out of state.
