RIM2RIM

I have set many goals for myself over a lifetime and I could probably count on one hand how many of them I have actually accomplished. This is not exactly a quality that I am proud of or wish to keep. I don't know how it happens, I guess I am someone who forgets easily why I set a goal in the first place. But recently I set a huge goal for myself and I actually achieved it!! Kasey and I, along with our awesome friends the Conk's and the Leavitt's tackled this goal together. We hiked from the North Rim to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, a total of 21 miles in one day. To say it was incredibly hard would be an understatement. And although I was so sore I couldn't walk for two days afterward I am so glad that I set a goal for myself and achieved it. We made memories we will never forget and I am thankful for my husband who has faith in me even when I don't have faith in myself and for my wonderful friends who help cheer me on.
When we started out it was 29 degrees and snowing. The trail was muddy and wet and my feet were soaking after about 2 miles. Luckily it cleared up once we got to lower elevation and I was able to change into some dry socks.
The scenery was so beautiful and I tried to just take it all in and enjoy the beauty of the world around me.
It took us about 13 and a half hours to complete and I thought I might die during the last mile. Thank goodness for Kasey pushing me along and sticking with me every step of the way. Now I know something that I didn't know before, and it is that I can do anything I put my mind to.
